Borough Market London Art Print

A print of my illustration of Borough Market, London's oldest food market, with stalls on the site (or close by) for over 1000 years. It marked its millennial celebration in 2014.
When you are inside the market it's a maze of stalls, pillars and hundreds of people so I stood on Middle Road to sketch this perfect view of the Market. This angle allowed me to capture a great perspective of the front of the market as it recedes down the street, which increases the visual energy of the picture. The market name and beautiful glass roof have so much character and the pub on the corner with the Shard in the distance really frames this scene perfectly. I wanted to give an indication of how busy it gets, so I added lots of people in the distance. If you’ve visited the market, especially on the weekend, you will know what I mean, it's so popular it's a squeeze to walk though it!. A real pleasure to draw though, almost as satisfying as the food!
I later created a colour version of this view as a print you can see here.
