Royal Observatory Greenwich Park London Greetings Card
Royal Observatory Greenwich Park London Greetings Card
Couldn't load pickup availability
A greetings card with my painting looking up the hill towards the Royal Greenwich Observatory in London. You can see the Onion Dome on the left and Flamsteed House on the right with the large red Greenwich time ball on top.
I started painting this as a night scene but in the end settled on a summers day for a more sunny and recognisable scene for most people who visit Greenwich. I still included a moon and a sky packed with stars though as a nod to Greenwich's history of astronomical navigation. The Royal Observatory was founded by Charles II in 1675 and celebrates its 250th anniversary in 2025! You can read the official history here.
I always love to add some wildlife to my paintings, so in the foreground you can see some pigeons and butterflies with a few more birds in flight in the middle and far distance. Its often thought cities can be devoid of wildlife but it couldn't be further from the truth and they add so much charm to natural spaces.
This is my 25th painting in my London in Colour series and my second Greenwich painting (you can see my first one here). What could be a better choice to paint than one of the most scientifically significant sites in England.
If you plan to visit the museum you can find out more on the official website.

Beautiful piece evoking so many memories!! Thank you!!

I love this bookmark, an iconic London landmark, protrayed beautifully.

I saw these prints when I was at the Shoreditch market, but couldn't stop to have a look properly, so ordered online. Love it!

Thank you Mike. I chose that card because of a beautiful moment that happened there and your drawing makes me revisit the moment over and over. Thanks

Would highly recommend this artist and his prints, They are unique and beautifully specific to the little places you know and love around London.

I purchased the London version of this print a couple of weeks back and decided I just had to get the Paris one too! It arrived about a week ago, very swiftly, and it was perfect. They both look amazing together. Thank you :)
