A print of my illustration of the iconic Harrods store on Brompton Road, Knightsbridge London. This world famous department store was started in 1824 by Charles Henry Harrod and has been on the current site since 1849.

So much grandeur and detail in the architecture here, the windows, roman style columns and arches, a fun challenge to illustrate. Harrod's colours work well for a painting too, the green awnings against the golden bricks, which really contrast well against a bright blue sky. I choose to focus on showing this front entrance of the long rather than the full length which stretches along Brompton Road. This allowed me to include some life at the bottom at a size you can see (I always try to add some people and city wildlife to my paintings). Here you can see people gazing into the shop displays, a couple, a proud couple with their new dog, a lovely border collie and someone in a London taxi who has just had some retail therapy, I hope they found everything they wanted!

Including the four fluttering union jacks adds a final touch of British colour.
