A print of my painting of Westminster Palace and the Elizabeth Tower (Big Ben) at twilight from across the river Thames. This classic view of Westminster's Elizabeth Tower can be found from Queens Walk on the South Bank just south of Westminster Bridge.

I wanted to find a view that captured the majesty of this gothic clock tower, when you see it in person its height and beautiful details are quite striking. If you get a chance to see it in the early evening the lights illuminating the tower and palace are very atmospheric too. Including some of Westminster bridge and some of the wall on Queens Walk adds extra depth to put you right in the spot I sketched this.

This has become one of my most popular London designs. I think the simple use of blues and oranges along with the sentiment people have for Big Ben at night really make this work as a painting. It makes me want to watch Mary Poppins, 101 Dalmatians or read Sherlock Holmes novels!

I hand-drew the view with a Palomino pencil and finished it with some simple digital watercolour.
